School Day

Day in the Life of a SGA Student…

Our students start their school day at 7:15AM.  Many wake up as early as 6AM so they can catch public transportation or a ride with a family member who is leaving for work.  Upon arrival, they enjoy a nutritious breakfast.  We partner with the Christina School District to offer students healthy meals and snacks. Menu choices include chicken caesar salad, yogurt, low-fat cheese, carrots with light ranch dressing, and a variety of fruits and vegetables.

After breakfast, the students receive intense instruction in the areas of Language Arts and Math, both class periods lasting 90 minutes.  Other subject areas include:  history, science, religion and technology.

At 11:15 AM, the school community gathers for prayer.  The students hear scripture readings and offer special intentions for friends and family.

In addition to academics, students participate in various enrichment programs from 3:00-5:15. The programs are designed to engage and expose the girls to a variety of enriching activities, cultures and ways to express themselves.  During this time, students participate in homework hour which allows them to receive additional scholastic support. Programs also include: sports, cooking, Girls Scouts, drama, musical instruments, visual arts, dance and life skills.

It is our ultimate goal to educate the whole student- mind, body and spirit; inspire each girl to realize and reach her potential; and instill in them a calling to be agents of positive transformation in their communities.
